La Quinta Man Accused of Robbing Palm Desert Bank

The man is accused of last weekend's robbery at the the First Bank branch in the 73000 block of Highway 111.

A 28-year-old La Quinta man was behind bars Friday for allegedly using a demand note to rob a 1st Bank branch in Palm Desert.

Joshua Franklin Wehe was being held at the county jail in Indio in lieu of $30,000 bail, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Wehe, who was arrested late Thursday, allegedly committing the robbery around 11:50 a.m. last Saturday at the bank at 73000 Highway 111, according to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Ken Black.

The bandit passed a teller a note demanding money, was handed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled in a vehicle. No weapons were used and no one was hurt, Black said.
